Frequently Asked Questions

Can I taste some of your cakes before I book?

Yes absolutely. If you’re planning on ordering your wedding cake or celebration cake with multiple tiers, choosing the flavors you’d like in each layer is so exciting and enjoyable. I hold tastings on specific dates throughout the year, which are available by appointment only. There is a small fee of $25 for up to 2 people. It’s also a brilliant opportunity to bring any details that you’ve already chosen that could inspire the cake design, from the stationery to swatches of fabric.

When do I need to order?

As soon as you know your event date and reserve your venue it’s a good idea to contact me to check availability. I only take on a small number of commissions, so popular dates will get booked up far in advance, with 3 months the minimum notice needed to perfect the design and details. Sometimes I can work to short lead times, so just get in touch to find out.

How much will it cost?

I know how important it is to be able to work out budgets when you’re planning a wedding or special event, but there are so many details that affect the price of a custom cake. When we’ve chatted about some of the essentials, such as number of guests and style, I’ll be able to give you an approximate price range before we progress to a more detailed quote. I do have a minimum spend of $85.

Where are you located?

My cake studio is in Waikele, Hawaii, and I personally deliver to all locations in Oahu. All orders are custom and made-to-order, so consultations are by appointment only.

Do you deliver and set up the cake?

Yes, my designs are often highly detailed and a little fragile, so they aren’t suitable for your collection. By hand delivering your cake I can oversee the safe delivery and ensure everything is set up and displayed to perfection. Plus, I really think the last thing you want to be worrying about is your beautifully crafted cake on the day! For smaller cakes, collection may be possible, and this can be arranged when we discuss your order.

Can you use fake tiers to make my cake look bigger?

Styrofoam tiers are a great way of creating a showstopping centrepiece when you perhaps only need a couple layers of real cake or when we need lightweight tiers due to the design. However, they actually cost about the same to buy as a real cake costs to make! Therefore, they’re not a cost-saving solution, and more of a design choice.

Do you also make birthday and celebration cakes?

Tall and stylish custom wedding cakes are my specialty, however I do take on a small number of celebration cakes, so get in touch if you’re looking for an original birthday cake or anniversary cake in Hawaii. I do have a minimum spending of $85 for a small 6 inch round cake.
